Gunning for Military Memories

Japan has therefore undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. ~ Franklin Roosevelt

How can anyone forget what the Japanese did to us, Asians? Anyone living during the Japanese occupation can thoroughly remember. To the new breed of Asians (like me), how can we know? I’d hate to experience it and I am forever thankful to God for being born in this generation. Still, such…gruesome events should never ever occur again.

Circa 2014, I and my friends were traveling to Singapore for that much needed vacation. Resorts World Sentosa is one of the many attractions of the country. And we were heading there. We were walking around and around until we found a historical site: Fort Siloso.

Take a step inside. Hear the stories of the olden days. Relive that dangerous moment.

Here’s to the people who fought and died for the greater good of Singapore.

Life was not easy when foreign military people came.

I can only imagine how the Singaporeans try to mingle with them as amicable as possible.

Oh how plenty they were. And it looked like they were in Siloso for the big guns…or bullets.

I don’t know about you, but the place was seriously a gem. It’s a maze of some sort because there were lots to see at every nook and cranny. Frankly, I’m not even sure we covered everything.

While I did mention on my first paragraph about Japan’s invasion, you can assess from the pictures that the uniforms are varied. There’s Americans and Britons. If you’re confused just looking at the pictures, you can visit the attraction and you’ll be surprised. Attached are a few sound systems on some corners of every room. They play when someone comes in. It tells the history. It tells you what happened. At first it’ll creep you out, like I was. haha.

Just listen.
